I know at the moment you just want to find a job, any job. Right now! In the long run, you will be happier and employed longer once you choose a job where you WANT to work, at a place you ENJOY and will prosper from. How do you do this?

Getting Started:

1. Make a list of places you want to work and be optimistic, yet realistic.

2. Your goal should be to work toward gainful employment. Set SMART Goals (we'll talk about that later), make a plan on how you are going to achieve those goals and start applying to those places.

3. Ask yourself if you would be happy at those places of employment.

4. Address your barriers (obstacles that are hindering you from getting a job). Start making attempts at getting transportation or making arrangements.

5.Do a Google search engine of "friendly felony employers near me."

6. Market yourself, network with people who can help you. There are a ton of organizations that specialize in helping to put returning citizens back to work. (Hidden Job Market) (Jobs that are not advertised, less competition).

Resume

1. Start to build your resume. If you need help contact Signature Workforce Solutions to create one for you (330) 531-8364. When developing your resume, use words from the job description/posting. Target your resume to every job you apply for. Customize your resume to reflect the potential employer's verbiage, use their keywords. Do not pull resumes from the internet and make them yours. It's okay to use them as examples, but do not copy word for word, Employers get tons of resumes and when they all start to look and sound the same, they know what's up and guess who won't be getting a call back?

2. Go directly to the employer's website, research and apply directly there.

Interviews - are just conversations with other human beings. The important tip here is to form a connection with that person. Do not get emotionally stressed. Do your research about the company, person who'll be interviewing you, the salary, duties etc.

1. Explain your legal history (felony) do not divulge too much information

2. Some companies get credits for hiring individuals with felonies

3. Appeal to their humanity

4. Tell what you have done to overcome this issue

5. Build rapport and commonality (be relatable)

6. Send a "Thank You" note/email/letter

If You Don't Get the Job:

Never give up! If one employer does not recognize your value, another one will. Know yourself, who you are, your skills, abilities, what you bring to the table. Know your worth! If all else fails hire yourself, start your own business! Do something you're good at.

1. There are a lot of jobs out there, don't just rely on online job search engines for your next one. Be creative, get out and start shaking hands with folks

2. Research legit work from home jobs
